Julie Chrome Extension  ·  Last updated June 2026

Julie is a browser extension that surfaces discount codes for online stores while you shop. This page explains what data the extension collects, why, and how it is handled. We have tried to keep this short and plain.

What we collect

  • Anonymous install ID. On first run the extension generates a random UUID and stores it in chrome.storage.local. It contains no personal information and is not linked to your Google account or any external identity.
  • Usage events. When you open the popup, open the in-page widget, or copy a code, an analytics event is sent to Mixpanel. Each event includes the anonymous ID, the hostname of the active tab (e.g. kith.com), the extension version, and basic interaction data such as how many codes were shown.

What we do not collect

  • Your name, email address, or any account information.
  • Payment card details or any financial information.
  • Your full browsing history or a log of every URL you visit.
  • The contents of any form field, including the discount-code field itself.
  • Any data from pages where the extension is inactive (unsupported stores).

How the extension uses your active tab

The content script runs on all web pages so it can detect supported stores. On pages where no supported store is detected, the script takes no action and sends no data. The extension only reads the current tab’s hostname — never the full page content, cookies, or form values.

Third-party services

Usage events are forwarded to Mixpanel. All Mixpanel calls originate from the extension’s background service worker, not from the visited page, so they are unaffected by the host page’s Content Security Policy. No other third-party services receive data.

Data storage and retention

The anonymous install ID is stored locally on your device. Mixpanel retains event data according to its own retention policy. Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored data.

Your choices

Because no personal data is collected there is nothing to delete beyond uninstalling the extension. If you have questions about data held by Mixpanel you can contact them directly using the anonymous install ID visible in your browser’s extension storage.
